Hi everyone. I’ve added some commemorative cards to EDHsilver.com that have been around for a while now.
The 2018 Heroes of The Realm cards have been given UnCommander card entries. You can see them here. Although awarded in 2018, these cards were released in 2019.
Heroes of the Realm cards are released annually to celebrate the work of particular teams within Wizards of the Coast, such as the D&D team, the Duel Masters team or the Magic: The Gathering Online team. These cards are designed by the team members themselves, featuring cool and unusual designs, many of them also multicolored legendary creatures well suited to Commander.
Very limited numbers of these cards are produced, usually only given to each team member and one displayed on the WotC Hall of Heroes. They have a different card back to regular Magic cards, and are not legal in any official formats. As such, these cards are only included in UnCommander UnOrthodox, as only limited personal printings are made.
If you are looking for analysis of the Heroes of the Realm cards, a Youtuber called DementedKirby has made a detailed video on all Heroes of the Realm cards released so far. The video is more geared towards Commander Cube, but most still applies for playing them in UnCommander UnOrthodox. DementedKirby also makes a wide range of content on both silver-bordered and black-bordered Magic. You can check out his channel here.
The Luc Mertens retirement card has also been given an UnCommander card entry. It commemorates the retirement of Luc Mertens from Cartamundi in 2013, celebrating his work and the fruitful partnership between Wizards of the Coast and Cartamundi. As the card was only distributed to specific private individuals, the card is only included in UnCommander UnOrthodox. You can see its entry here.
