UnCommander Rulings

The first ability lets you roll a six-sided die and put that result on Bob from Accounting. This basically saves that result for later use. Say you roll a 5. Put the die on Bob from Accounting with the 5 face up. Later in the game, when you roll another die, you can use the second ability to use that result instead of rolling a die. You don’t get to roll the die before deciding.
(Using the template of Socketed Sprocketer‘s Gatherer rulings, changed to reflect the different mechanics of Bob from Accounting.)

Results installed on objects are treated as markers, but not counters. Mechanics that interact with counters do not affect installed results.

Like counters, all installed results generally cease to exist if the object they’re on moves from one zone to another.

If an effect like Panharmonicon copies Bob from Accounting’s enter the battlefield ability, there can be more than one result installed on Bob. Bob’s second ability only uninstalls one result, so you choose which one as you uninstall it. The remaining installed result stays on Bob, even after you install another result.

When you replace a die roll with Bob from Accounting’s last ability, the effect that rolls another die to install on Bob from Accounting triggers. It is only put on the stack once the initial die rolling effect has finished resolving.

Bob from Accounting
{1}{R}
Creature — Legendary Accountant
When Bob from Accounting comes into play, roll a six-sided die. Put the die with the rolled result on Bob from Accounting.
{1}{R}, {T}: Instead of rolling a six-sided die, use the result on Bob from Accounting. Then reroll the die and put it back on Bob from Accounting.

The card has been given UnCommander errata to change the Accountant creature type to Advisor. Other cards that represent financial officers, like Kambal, Consul of Allocation, have the Advisor type. Advisor better fits its tribal identity, allowing for greater synergy, like Persistent Petitioners.
