UnCommander Rulings

As the declare blockers step ends, if any creatures have firstest strike, there’s an additional combat step where only those creatures deal damage. The game waits until after this step to determine whether there will be a first-strike combat damage step.

While it’s your combat phase during your opponent’s turn, you’re the active player and the attacking player. However, any rules or effects that check whose turn it is will still know that it’s your opponent’s turn.

Above rulings copied from the Gatherer rulings of Throat Wolf from the Mystery Booster Playtest Cards.

The additional combat step happens before that turn’s upkeep step.

If there is more than one Throat Wolf on the battlefield, they each get their additional combat phases separately, even if they are controlled by the same player.

There are two cards named Throat Wolf included in UnCommander UnOrthodox. They are treated as having the same name for all purposes such as deck building. Rules-wise, they are treated as variants of the same card with different characteristics, like the six variant cards from Unstable. Which variant is used for a card is treated as a decision made in secret during deckbuilding with the card used representing the choice.

Note that only one Throat Wolf variant is included in UnCommander Core. In games of UnCommander Core, Throat Wolf is not treated as having more than one variant. For details on UnCommander Core and UnCommander UnOrthodox, see The two UnCommander Formats on the UnCommander Rules Overview page.
