UnCommander Rulings

If Cortexic Jellyfish leaves the battlefield and returns, it’s considered a new object, even if it’s represented by the same card. It will untap during its controller’s upkeep as normal until it attacks.
[Template from Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner]

If Cortexic Jellyfish’s third ability is used multiple times on a single permanent, that permanent can gain additional instances of “At the beginning of your upkeep, put a -0/-1 counter on this creature”, meaning that more -0/-1 counters are put on it during its controller’s upkeep.

The original text of Cortexic Jellyfish’s first ability is unclear, and there are different possible interpretations of it –

    • “Whenever Cortexic Jellyfish attacks, it doesn’t untap during your next untap step.”
    • “Cortexic Jellyfish doesn’t untap during your untap step.”
    • “Cortexic Jellyfish doesn’t untap during your untap step if it has attacked while on the battlefield.”

Although the last option is the most complex, and doesn’t fit well into existing Magic card templating (with the possible exception of Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner). However, it was chosen as it seems the interpretation most faithful to the original text wording.
