UnCommander Rulings

Brass Golem’s ability can be activated more than once per combat

Brass Golem’s ability still targets creatures, so abilities like hexproof and shroud prevent Brass Golem from targeting those creatures with its ability.

The Protection gained from Brass Golem’s ability does not remove creatures from combat, as they have already been declared as blockers, nor does it make Brass Golem be considered ‘unblocked’. However, any damage that would dealt to Brass Golem by creatures it has protection from will still normally be prevented.

Colorless is not a color; colorless creatures can still be targeted by Brass Golem’s ability, but it will normally have no result.

“In battle they’re worth their weight in gold.” — Namor, Atlantis Guild General

The original text doesn’t have the artifact type, but it seemed logical to change it in errata, as colorless creature cards of the time were all artifacts, and thematically, it clearly seems to be an artifact.
