The card was given UnCommander errata to change the Deer creature type to Elk. In the official Magic Oracle on Gatherer, all creatures that resemble deer have been given the Elk type, with the exception of Caribou, which is a token creature type. To enable cards like Coat of Arms to recognize this card and Elk creatures as similar, the change was made in UnCommander.
Mark Rosewater has said that as all elks are deer, but not the other way round, there is the possibility of Elk creatures being changed to Deer in a similar way that all Hounds were changed to Dogs. This could also include Caribou as Deer, and allow the use of other deer species. However, this would likely require a reason for Wizards of the Coast to start over.
