Legendary partner is a variant of the partner ability. Legendary partner represents two abilities. One is a static ability that modifies the rules for deck construction. Rather than a single legendary creature card, you may designate two creature cards as your commander if one has legendary partner and the other is printed as a nonlegendary creature card. You can’t designate two cards as your commander if one has legendary partner ability and the other is printed as legendary. The other ability represented by legendary partner is the static ability “If you start the game with this card as your commander, your other commander is legendary as long as both cards remain your commander.”
