UnCommander Rulings

There don’t need to be legal choices for the ability for you to activate it.

You only choose the card and permanent to switch as the ability resolves. Those cards must meet the ability’s requirements at that time.

As the card and permanent switch, they are not treated as entering or leaving any zones. Each inherits the state of the other. Both objects do each receive a new timestamp though.

Switching objects does not change the ownership of either.

If a token on the battlefield is swapped with a card in a hand, the token will cease to exist as a state-based action as normal.

Mary O’Kill’s activated ability can swap a card in your hand with a permanent you don’t control, as long as both meet the requirement. Note that the same player will now control the permanent you switched from your hand, and you may have a card you don’t own in your hand.

If players have cards they don’t own in their hand, the owner of a card should be distinguishable from the back.
